Saturday 19 May 2018

Today,Saturday 19, was the last working day of my first year in graduation .To be short and precise this day presented a clear contrast to the rest of the year.It was swift ,hectic, full of pressures ,which ,to admit, was not something familiar to me as a mass communication student.JUST KIDDING!!.This day was hectic and was giving minor  migraine, like rest of the year has.We were supposed to submit our assiengments ,SUPPOSED TO,its not that everyone did ,quarter of the class was absent somewhere ,and rest of us were as lost as rahul gandhi in his speeches.I ,being a nice student ,disciplined student submitted work on time, but who am I kidding ,its only because I'm scared of my teachers to hell. Also ,little marks do no harm.At the end we were supposed to write a blog on this last day ,which somehow gave an unusual feeling, nostalgic or something ,I don't know but its strange to look back now ,was i good? bad? I dont think its time to dwell upon it as I'm already running late and have to fill  the answer sheet as well.

WHY GRAPHIC ERA HILL UINIVERSITY

      Why graphic era hill university?

“Experience is the teacher of all things” words of Julius ceasor ,a man master of political ,military and literary comprehensions .True to his words nothing but experience takes  you to the closest realities of life, especially in media sphere where things are so dynamic and static you can’t bound knowledge within 250 pages of a book. My days of partaking in this media realm must be ahead but in graphic era I listened to people who have their own set of experiences there and have learned so many things .Mr Dinesh mansera ,senior journalist at NDTV was guest  at one of our seminars where he talked about techniques of collecting news. He had worked on NDTV’s famous ‘Save the Tiger ‘series. He told us how cooperation, timing, inspiration, and vision are fundamental to  working of a journalist. We had also a chat session with Miss Deepika bhatt, journalist at (PTI)Press trust of India .She told us how things are tough in field for journalist and how to mentally and physically prepare for this job. Miss bhatt was an aluminai of our college, watching her doing so well in her carer assured us in some way. Another aluminai visiting us was rohit sir.Mr Rohit Juglan is presently associate producer at India news .His journey was full of hardships, he climbed  his way through samachar plus, news 18 India and others to be here today. He taught us about basics of television journalism and how to convert adversity at field and at news room for one’s own benefit. We also had opportunity to attend lecture by Mr Raghwesh Pandey ,regional editor in chief of Doordarshan, uttrakhand .Sir has an experience of about 40 years which he tried to sum up in an hour and a half to motivate us and prepare up for journalist’s life .He taught us why it’s important for a journalist to have strong bound and ties with source and fellow journalists and why we should leave our inhibitions and hesitancy when in field .These are a few names to be recalled ,there have been many seminars by department of mass communication and journalism giving students ample opportunities to learn from the industry people. But the foremost and key advices comes from Dr prof Subhas Gupta .Sir  is professor and director(I.D) at our college and has been former bureau chief at ZEE news ,Sahara TV ,editor at Amar Uzala and many more .Not only sir has vast experience in the field of journalism but is also an excellent orator which makes learning from him so easy, and unlike other guest lecturers he is always there to guide and motivate us .This feature of graphic era ,to provide  a platform where industry people and students can interact openly is what makes it different from all other colleges .Here at GEHU,not only we get theoretical knowledge of concepts but awareness regarding situations where they could be applied.

Piece of advice I most often give but least often follow

Piece of advice I most often give but least often follow

You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood for something in life.

I repeat these lines by former American president Winston Churchill to every friend sheltering the feeling of being judged by others. So I talk the talk but do I walk the walk? That’s the real question, answer, wait for it (dramatic pause)yeeeaaNO  .

In reality preaching is far great then following .And don’t blame me, no buddy, no, everyone have a chapter they don’t read out loud. So here it goes, I think every human is different in terms of their behaviour ,experiences, choices, beliefs. Some might like Chennai super kings  others losing, some Salman others good acting, but we all should respect these differences and be tolerant to each other. But no, they just can’t ,homo sapiens ,so judgemental creatures .And they don’t hate your work ,no, they just hate its coming from you, like how can you having thinking not as narrow like ours ,beliefs as orthodox ,values  as vague can come up with a thing like that .and being a women criticism of your idea becomes double fold . Like we know many of the great poets and writers in past have been man but it was us women who broke their heart and gave them those sensibilities, so yeah we do know a thing or two about idea.

Honestly I don’t think it’s totally their fault we fear what we don’t understand and don’t try to understand what we fear ,maybe they don’t understand me and frankly I haven’t done anything significant to give them a chance to do so ,I like to keep myself within boundaries ,opening up to people intimidates me .But still I try to be friendly, try to be cooperative ,to be helpful and I am  to a limit but then my anger takes over .whenever someone tries to denounce me I remember words of Churchill and then quickly forgot them and start despising him. OH, yes I do try, but in vain.

How can one stand to criticism so dynamic ,coming from every direction, every section, every gender ,wait no ,not every gender, trans people are nice in fact whole LGBTQ community is nice not commenting, not criticising just living peaceful inside their closets .but ya people also don’t understand them .

I listened Eminem when I was young, I understood the meaning of those explicit lyrics when I grow up. Whenever  pulled down ,I might say “they see me rolling, they hatin” but the mercury is just below MT Everest .I don’t hate criticism ,I hate pointless criticism ,but reciprocating this doesn’t makes you a better human ,and no one comes out of a  fight clean .I have to teach ,myself not to be so overly sensitive ,to keep my sanity .but for now I think I am  a clear hypocrite for I advice others to ignore hate but am boiling inside by others words.
